| These seminars are a Parent Education Program designed to assist parents with children of all ages, even those who only have grown children and grand children, in teaching gospel principles in the home. It is targeted at teaching a Christ centered education, with an emphasis on LDS standards, beliefs, and doctrines, both current and those stated and outlined by the Brethren. To help educate parents in becoming politically aware of the education arena and new laws to help protect their children. (This series is a continuation of the LDS Education Forum held in Provo, UT.) | Dr. E. Curtis Fawson - Establishing LDS Schools and Colleges: Why haven't more LDS Schools and Colleges been created by the private sector? Dr Fawson will discuss both the failures and successes of establishing LDS Schools and Colleges. Dr. Fawson is acting President, Executive Vice President, and Provost of Southern Virginia College. Among his many other accomplishments he received the Presidential Appreciation Award for outstanding service from Brigham Young University in 1997. |

Schedule of Speakers Jack Monnett - "What was the focus in learning by the church? Early Church Education and curriculum. Jack Monnett holds degrees in education from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. from the Historical Foundation of Education from the University of Utah. He has taught in the LDS Church Education System as well as in public schools and currently teaches part-time for the LDS Institutes of Religion. |
Vickie Jo Anderson - "You really do matter!" What we choose to do with our lives will make a difference in history. Vickie Jo served a mission in Uruguay, Paraguay. She has a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University and a Masters in History from George Wythe. A noted Historian Researchist she has been on a number of national radio programs, most recently on "Voice of the Nation" with Oliver North. She's a homeschool mother of eight. They operate a charter school in Arizona. She adores her husband Steve. |
| LaDawn Jacob - "Coop Learning" LaDawn will introduce a variety of ideas to create an effective co-op learning experience. She will share format, curriculum, subject possibilities and consider the advantages of this type of home education. Mother of 11, wife to James Jacob, home schooling for 17 years. Enjoys reading, teaching, music, gardening, church service, children, and loves life. | LuJean Livingston - "The Big Picture" A providential approach to classical literature and curriculum for an LDS education. Sister Livingston graduate from Brigham Young University in Political Science with minors in History and English. Mother of eight children (seven boys, one girl). Has taught in public, private, and home school. |
| Lois Maxwell - "National and State Trends in Education; their affect on home and private education". A 20/20 vision look behind the mission of education reform. Where it came from, why it is here, where it is going. Considered an expert on National and State Educational Programs. Lois has lectured extensively on Goals 2000 related issues. She is currently teaching in Oregon and authoring a book entitled Teaching Reading for the 21st Century. | Steven Adams- "Education with Power: Liberty, Accountability, and Faith." Steven Adams has spent the last four years helping to build one of the largest LDS private education organizations in the country, The Benjamin Franklin Academy Learning Centers. He has studied education, business management, and theology at Idaho State University, George Wythe College, and from expert mentors in each of the fields. He is now the Administrator of the Salt Lake City Benjamin Franklin Academy and the Director of the LDS Education Forum. |

Dr. A. LeGrande "Buddy" Richards - "The Apostasy of Education" Bro. Richards is a Professor at Brigham Young University in the Education Department. His accomplishments are too numerous to mention. He and his wife Cindy have eight children and are soon to be grandparents.
Dr. Andrew Allison - "Educating Our Loyalties" Our lives are sculpted by our loyalties. To what and to whom should Latter-day Saints be loyal above all else? Andrew M. Allison is employed as a manager in the Member and Statistical Records Division of the Church. He has served as a bishop, a stake president, and the Center for Constitutional Studies. He has authored and co-authored several books and articles on American history and government. He and his wife, Kathleen, live in West Jordan, Utah, and are the parents of six children. |
